Budwig diet experience | recipes

Budwig diet is used as a prevention and a cure for cancer, or in the case of diseases such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease, migraine, diabetes, chronic fatigue, liver disease, cardiovascular diseases. In its menu Budwig diet contains omega-3 fatty acids in most of its food. It was created by Dr. Johanna Budwig, which was nominated 6 times for the Nobel Prize.

Dr. Budvig believes that the absence of linoleic acid causes the formation of oxidants, which encourages the spread of cancer and causes many chronic disorders. Useful oxidants enzymes are destroyed by heat treatment, as well as nitrates and salts which are used for preserving the meat. The assimilation of oxygen in the body stimulates the protein compounds containing sulfur and makes oil soluble in water and they are present in cheese, nuts, and black garlic, leeks and especially in white soft cheese (cottage cheese). In Budwig diet recommended is only unrefined, cold-pressed oil high in linoleic acid, and it is consumed along with a diet containing adequate protein, otherwise it would cause more harm than good. The best combination is one that includes white soft cottage cheese and flaxseed oil.

  • Breakfast: herbal tea, Dr. Budwig cream for which you need 4 tablespoons of cottage cheese or yogurt, 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil from seeds and freshly ground flax seed, and, if desired, you may add the juice of half a lemon, a banana, fresh seasonal fruits or a teaspoon of honey. Put everything in a blender.
  • Snack: herbal tea, carrot juice (1 cup), apple, celery or beetroot
  • Lunch: Raw salad - in addition to the classic lettuce, carrots, radishes, beets, and for better taste add shredded horseradish, chives or parsley. Vegetables are steamed, and used is brown rice, fish or cheese.
  • Snack: herbal tea, juice, fresh fruit, fresh seasonal fruit, nuts. 
  • Dinner: eat no later than 18 o’clock. Salad, steamed vegetables, vegetable soup, hot meal using buckwheat, oats, millet, barley or soybeans

Note: All cakes, biscuits, ready-made cereals and sweets are made from refined sugar, flour and oil which provide only empty calories, so they should be completely removed out of the menu.
Budwig Diet Recipes

Spread - can be consumed separately or in addition to salads, steamed vegetables or cooked cereals.
  • Pour into a blender 2.5 dl of linen oil, 450 g of cottage cheese, four tablespoons of honey and a little milk (rice, almond or soy) or water so ingredients are easier to unite.
  • Instead of a blender you may use the mixer.


People with serious health problems should consume 40 to 50 grams of flax oil mixed with 100 grams of cottage cheese. It is important to note that the prepared mixture can be eaten immediately but make sure that every time you prepare it again because food loses its beneficial properties by standing. Instead of cottage cheese you can use kefir or yogurt and their amounts should be 3x larger.


Budwig diet prohibits: sugar, refined white flour, refined carbohydrates, oil and salt, hydrogenated foods, butter, margarine and canned meat because they contain harmful substances, and large amounts of trans-fats. Dr. Johanna Budwig recommends fluid intake up to 3 liters a day, physical activity, walking in nature and staying in the sun for at least an hour a day. The results will come within a few weeks with this diet, and people with serious illnesses should fully recover after 1-5 years. Budwig diet is recommended after the disease has withdrawn to prevent its return.
