How to make a natural spray or stick deodorant

The recipe for the best natural deodorant without aluminium

You do not need to spend money on expensive and harmful cosmetic products full of chemicals, make a natural deodorant at home quite easily. Its effects will be far better in comparison to the ones you buy in stores- They will eliminate unpleasant odours and the best things is that you can make it at your home according to your taste and needs.

In the following article learn how natural deodorants affect our bodies, how they differ from antiperspirants and why they are praised and wholeheartedly recommend.

Eliminate odours with baking soda and lavender

Make a solution of lavender and rosemary in olive oil. If you do not have these ingredients instead of olive you can use the essential oil of lavender or tea tree. It is important to find a plant that can have a disinfection effect and smells good, like these two.

  • 1 decilitre of olive oil (oil-soluble lavender and rosemary)
  • 3 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • Little of natural beeswax (5 -10 grams).

How to make a natural lavender deodorant stick?

Pick the lavender flowers and let them dry well, while rosemary leaves can be used fresh. Hold this mixture in olive oil exposed to the sun. You will receive excellent fragrant oil (maceration) that you use to create a deodorant. The fragrance is very refreshing. Filter the decilitre of obtained oil and gently warm it in order to dissolve a small amount of wax.

After its dissolving add baking soda and cornstarch. It is the same corn starch we buy for thickening of stews and sauces.

Baking soda and lavender act as a slight disinfectant. Gustine serves as an absorbent, olive oil and wax nourish the skin, and rosemary with lavender provides great smell.

Make a homemade product according to your taste

In order for a natural deodorant to completely overshadow harmful products, use baking soda, cornstarch, olive or coconut oil. Combine the ingredients according to your own taste.

Accessories that will increase the efficiency of your product are:
  • Vitamin E (it serves as a conserver and is preferably better to squeeze a capsule of vitamin E),
  • Essential oils (some have an antimicrobial effect - bacteria cause bad smell after sweating), such as sandalwood, lavender, lemon, cinnamon oil, clove and thyme are great, but be careful how you use because some people may be allergic.
  • Zinc paste (available at any pharmacy, and contains 25 percent zinc oxide, powder and Vaseline, has extremely antimicrobial effect - helps with acne, rashes and wound healing. As we all lack this mineral, we will benefit from the small addition of it absorbed in the deodorant.

In a smooth metal or ceramic bowl, mix:
  • 1/4 cup of baking soda without aluminium
  • 1/2 cup density cooking
  • 2 tablespoons of olive or coconut oil
  • 2-3 drops of Vitamin E (oil)
  • essential oils (tea tree, lemon, neem oil)
  • 8 drops of lavender
  • 3 drops of sandalwood
  • 10 cm of zinc paste

Mix everything well and make sure that your mixture is not too rare. The thicker it gets the more difficult it is to use and that is exactly what is desirable for a good natural homemade deodorant, as it will be more efficient.

Be careful not to add few more drops of essential oils than listed. If you experience a burning sensation in the armpits or redness, then reduce the amount of baking soda - adjust the scale with a little starch in proportion 1 to 2 or even 1 to 6.

This natural deodorant without aluminium will not relieve sweating, you will sweat normally, but there will be no odour.

What are antiperspirants and are they harmful?

Unlike domestic deodorants, antiperspirants work to reduce perspiration, because they make the sweat pores narrower and block certain channels of sweat glands. They often contain aluminium, which can cause irritation and redness of the skin in the armpits.

All of the cosmetics that we apply especially purchased deodorants with aluminium that we use every day, are absorbed in our skin and in the blood stream very quickly. Be careful when you use antiperspirant sprays not to make a mistake and breathe it in, because in large quantities it can cause serious damage to the lungs.

Most of such compositions that are used for this purpose are antiperspirants and they contain aluminium, parabens, SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) and other harmful substances.

Aluminium is often associated with Alzheimer's disease and breast cancer. Therefore, always read the declarations on your cosmetics, and in no case give it to small children,, use only natural and proven products.

Natural deodorant made out of baking soda, lavender and coconut oil is a far better and healthier choice. It does not reduce sweating and is not harmful; its main purpose is to neutralize odours.
