Today, one is faced with increasing rates of obesity and the highest incidence of serious disease, and growing interest in finding the perfect diet and a prescription for a healthy and long life. However, very few people know how to eat healthy and we are witnessing that almost every day. The food industry has not been developed, so the people were forced to eat what they had at home, which is a very big advantage compared with today's diet. In the cultivation of food "hernia" was not used without which today is unthinkable. Fruits and vegetables were not treat with carcinogenic chemical agents, and the animals ate natural food. Not to mention the fact that our ancestors most of today's food would not recognize as food, because in their time it did not exist.

Our ancestors definitely knew how to keep healthy and cheap, because of fact that they never ate salami, frankfurters, pâté, mayonnaise, ketchup, processed cheese spreads, chocolate etc. Certainly that is one of the factors that has a positive impact on their health. Refined flour did not exist, and the bread was made from freshly ground flour of various cereals, which were mixed with salt and water. Then the dough is left to naturally leavened without yeast. Thus, to bread was not added white flour, additives, emulsifiers, or any other artificial ingredients. When it comes out of a bakery, attention was paid to the quality of bread, even in some places there were penalties for those who produce bad bread. In addition to bread, almost daily dishes with corn bread and porridge of grains were eaten which are only sometimes mixed with cheese, or a quality homemade honey.

WHAT DID THE MENU OF OUR ANCESTORS LOOK LIKE

The basis of our farming ancestors consisted of three kinds of crops: cereals, legumes and oilseeds plants. Cereals such as wheat, spelled, barley, ray, oats, millet made the major part of man's need for carbohydrates, and legumes (lentils, peas, beans, broad beans, chickpeas) were the most important sources of protein. Plants oilseeds secured enough essential fatty acids. Seeds are not something that we think about all the time because it is the food for the birds, not for men. Our ancestors did not have any special knowledge about healthy eating, nor used mathematical calculations to calculate calories, body mass index, and the like. They were satisfied with the breakfast like porridge with a little homemade cheese, or bread and a cup of milk, pie, donuts, cereal porridge etc.

As we conclude the meals of our ancestors were based on only two or three ingredients while ours it is not, so it is no wonder of a growing number of sick and obese. I definitely have a much better understanding of how to keep healthy, because if we do not turn sour cream, red cheese, ham, eggs, mayonnaise and ketchup, yoghurt into a treat after that - we become nervous and irritable. The meat was eaten very rarely, once a week or on holidays. Today's meat is contaminated with antibiotics, hormones, nitrites, nitrates and other chemical additives, which is an unavoidable part of almost every meal. For breakfast we eat hot dogs or salami, steak for lunch and for dinner bacon or ham. Sometimes a family of six could be satisfied with one chicken for lunch, while today this amount is usually for the average teenager.

Moderation is another characteristic of our ancestors - they eat in order to survive, while modern man lives to eat and what is the worst all "know" how to eat healthy at work, at school, at home, etc. We are hedonists when it comes to food. Sometimes families which have six or more members, and people were forced to give up the parts of food and share, and today even a family of four is a rarity, and therefore individuals are available more food. Modern man often eats for three people and the meal ends when the pants start to tighten, or when heartburn and stomach pain occurs. Then usually we reach for a glass of soda, because, it can help relieve these symptoms. Even if for a moment we feel relieved, worse things wait - for liquids, sugar and a variety of artificial colours and flavours contained in the beverage industry is bad for the health.
PREPARING FOOD BEFORE AND NOW

In the past there were dishes prepared on the fire, which contributed to the taste and quality of food. As for container, only natural materials for its construction were used - wood and clay. Grain was ground by the mills, and each household had a grindstone and pestle for grinding grain. In this way people ate healthy, because of fresh ingredients. Today there are fewer of those people who want to spend their time on cooking at home, but by food or eat fast food. Few people know that the molecular structure of food is changed, but they themselves are not aware of what we put into the body. In addition to food, a big difference in lifestyle and therefore the impact on health has the type of work that was practiced by our ancestors. Sometimes the jobs were performed in the open air, and are meant to be manual labour, a lot of movement, sweat and thus calorie consumption, while today people generally drive cars, use elevators and try to find ways to keep healthy at work etc. Most of the day we spend in a seated position in a stuffy office, and therefore all the excess calories in the body is deposited as fat tissue.

RECOMMENDATION ON HOW TO EAT HEALTHY NOWDAYS

It is impossible to completely return to the diet of our ancestors, but certain segments of previous lifestyle can accept. Industrial foods can be replaced with foods in their original form - grains, legumes, seasonal and dried fruits, vegetables, honey, yogurt and fresh cheese. Eat less meat, and sugar in moderation, drink water instead of juice, navigate, use containers made of natural materials and be moderate in eating. If you follow these tips, you will not need any diet or any special diet. Do not on your own recommend to your friends how to eat healthy, because it may not suit them, every organism is different especially when it comes to eating “healthy candy”. This is another advantage of the food of our ancestors - sugar was very rarely used in everyday diet, and they ate healthy fruits, fresh and exclusive in specific season. In winter they ate beneficial dried fruit, and there is also unavoidable honey. Stewed fruit still could be found on the stove, and were a real treat. Today man daily ingests about 30 teaspoons of sugar, and statistics show that single person annually eats dozens of kilograms of this "white evil, that causes obesity, diabetes, malignant disease and many other serious diseases.
